Wireless Integrated Active RFID Presentation
Active RFID system consist of following components:
- Active RFID Tag: Tag
is a match box size device or something like RF car remote that can be
either carried by a person or mounted on a asset or vehicle. Tag
consist of electronics circuit, antenna and small coin cell battery for
power. Active RF tag can communicate from 10m distance.
- Active RFID Reader: Active
RFID reader consist of Wall mount or desktop Reader with external
antenna. It can receive signals from Active RFID tags in the range of
10m distance. Active RFID readers have Ethernet or wifi interface to
send data to the central server.
- Active Tracking Server Software: Software
running on the network server receive data from several Active RFID
Reader and analyze data and create reports that help organization to
manage their resources better.

Advantages Over Passive Tag Solutions:
- Longer Read Range-
RFID Passive tags have read ranges
limited to a few feet. Active RFID tags have a read range upto to 100
meters which can be set depending on localization required by the
application.
- Larger Data Storage Capacity-
Passive tags have limited data storage capacity compared to
the RFID active tags.
- Data Can Be Sent at Designated Times-
Passive tags send data only when they are in close proximity to the RFID reader.
Because of the large read range, Active RFID tags can send data at pre-designated
intervals or at certain locations.
